Be a Player not a benchwarmer

Don’t be a Benchwarmer, be a Player!

by Author Dr. Tae Yun Kim, in Seven Steps to Inner Power

He Can Do! She Can Do! Why Not Me!

Your physical strength is only as good as your mental strength. Powerful kicks are worthless unless they are properly directed at an appropriate target, with the necessary focus. But all the physical strength in the world will not help if your mind is full of fear.  Therefore, you must conquer fear and weakness within yourself before you can conquer a foe outside yourself.

He Can Do! She Can Do! Why Not You?

You have to have the mental attitude to do the work for yourself.  Yes, those victories you’ve seen others attain? You can too! Why not you? Too many people shortchange themselves, discount themselves with too much fear and self-doubt. You have power! In reality, the only thing that separates you from your victory is work. If you are not mentally lazy, you have unlimited opportunity! This means you can do, if you are willing to take the necessary mental and physical steps to persist and persist until you win!

JSW Testing Word Search

Jung SuWon Testing is a time of Celebration, where students are tested not only in their physical abilities, but also in their spiritual energy and mental attitude.

In: Seven Steps to Inner Power, by Author Tae Yun Kim, pages 79-80

Pg 79, Jung SuWon Physical Training

“Your mind and body are one. Therefore, when you practice the Jung SuWon physical forms along with the seven mental and spiritual principles, you develop your whole being, not your mind only, not your body only.”

Pg 80, Physical Training is Overcoming Limitation

“Certainly, increased physical strength and the knowledge of self-defense are desirable rewards of Jung SuWon martial art training; they reduce fear and weakness and build true confidence and self esteem.  The quality of physical training in Jung SuWon depends directly on the extent to which the spiritual training is applied. Learning the martial art moves and forms, learning how to spar effectively with an opponent, and demonstrating extraordinary physical feats (breaking bricks with your bare hand) require that you use all the principles of awareness, balance, visualization, commitment – all the rules of mental conduct as well as the seven principles of inner power.

Training in the physical form of Jung SuWon requires that you focus all these ideas within the parameters of this structured art form and that you develop yourself and measure your progress in a disciplined manner (such as during a Jung SuWon Testing).  Your training, then, can be a feedback system, letting you know where you stand in taking control of your mind and body.”

Jung SuWon training is 24 hours a day, both on the dojang floor and especially away from the dojang in your every day life.  Training helps to improve self confidence, mental confidence, physical fitness, balance, discipline, and has many other benefits for your Body, Mind and Spirit. Seven Steps to Inner Power, pg 75, ~Dr. Tae Yun Kim
 .
One of nature’s most beautiful symbols is “patience” the transformation – the metamorphosis – of the caterpillar into a butterfly, when the outward picture of the caterpillar’s  “beingness” changes drastically from one form into another.
 .
For a certain period, the caterpillar ingests food to enable it to grow to a certain point. This is a distinct period of time that cannot be rushed. When that point is reached, it then forms a cocoon in which it must wait for another period of time. A transformation occurs in the quiet cocoon that cannot be rushed or disturbed. Then at last, at the appointed time, a butterfly emerges, a different creature altogether from the caterpillar, who then reproduces so that the cycle begins all over again.

2017 Lunar New Year “Fire Rooster”, and Connect the Dots

January 29, 2017

rooster_connect_dots

This 2017 Lunar New Year, (January 27, 2017), is the year of the “Fire Rooster”

What ”Fire Rooster” Means

Both the zodiac sign and the element shape the astrology of the year. For example, 2017 is a Fire Rooster year. Element-sign combinations recur every 60 years.

Both zodiac sign and element are believed to affect one’s personality and destiny.

In Chinese astrology, each zodiac year is not just associated with an animal sign, but also with one of five elements: Gold (Metal), Wood, Water, Fire, or Earth.

~~~
Dr. Tae Yun Kim’s The First Element book, pg 41, has a description of the “Fire” element.
Here is an excerpt:
Your Spiritual Body is “Fire”. Fire is the element which corresponds to your pure life force energy.  This energy manifests electrical or electromagnetic forces which operate just below the level of your physical body. This is the body of flowing energy which acupuncturists adjust in order to correct physical problems.
In a healthy state, this fire ki energy flows throughout the body in currents expressing the nature of yin and yang. In an unbalanced state, your physical body may manifest signs of too much yang fire energy (an excited, overactive state, such as a fever) or too much yin (a lethargic or stagnant state, such as a cold.)
Hello Young Warriors,
The best tasting herbs are grown at home.  A few green herbs are: parsley, cilantro, basil, dill, mint.
On page 58 in The First Element, Green strongly influences the heart.  As the middle color of the spectrum, the balance and harmony, green helps alleviate tension.  Green imparts a feeling of renewal, freshness and optimism.  Positive qualities associated with Green are generosity, humility, and cooperation. ~Dr. Tae Yun Kim
Here’s an Easy way to make your very own Vvertical-bottle-garden3ertical Herb Garden:
Easy Vertical Bottle Garden
Supplies:
  1. 3+ plastic water bottles (2 liter water bottle)
  2. Potting soil (Miracle Grow)
  3. A pair of Scissors
  4. Lettuce seeds or Herb seeds
  5. A Glue Gun & Glue stick
How to Instructions:
  1. Recycle your plastic water bottles. Make sure they are the same size.
  2. Remove the labels.
  3. With a pair of scissors, make a hole through each screw-on bottle top lid so that water can drip from one bottle down to the next.
  4. With a pair of scissors, cut the base of the second bottle so the neck of the first bottle can fit into the second bottle.  Do this step with each bottle.
  5. Use a glue gun to glue your bottles together.
  6. With a pair of scissors, cut an opening in the side of the bottles for the seedlings to grow through.  This will allow your plants to grow out the side of the bottle and be picked.
  7. Fill each bottle half full with potting soil.
  8. Plant 3 lettuce seeds or herb seeds in the dirt of each bottle.
  9. Hang the bottles in a sunny location (6 hours of sunshine per day) sunny window, or balcony, or fence.
  10. Cut a hole in the top bottle base.
  11. Water the top bottle and watch the water drip down to the remaining bottles.
  12. An empty bottle at the very bottom of your bottle garden can be added to collect any excess water. When full you can reuse this water and start the process trickling down once again.
  13. Be patient – in 1-2 weeks your lettuce or herb seeds will sprout and grow into plants that you can pick and eat.
